The Influence of the Pregnancy on the Formation of the Human Serum-Antibody in Rabbits

Abstract
For the purpose of studying the influence of pregnancy on immune antibody production in the rabbit, the O-group serum of one and the same individual was used to immunize the pregnant and non-pregnant rabbit. The results obtained were as follows.
1) There is a great difference in immune antibody production by the human serum between the pregnant and non-pregnant rabbits. That is to say, the immune antibody titer of the pregnant rabbit is obviously lower than that of non-pregnant one.
2) It is assumed that the immune antibody production in the pregnant rabbit would be inhibited by some unknown substance or factor during pregnancy.
3) The average titer of the human serum antibody produced in the, pregnant rabbit is 4,500, whereas - that of the antibody produced in the non-pregnant one 13,000.
